Two D cells instead of a rechargeable pack, which is the whole argument for this one - nothing to plug in halfway through a week outdoors. Eighteen low-powered LEDs sit above a brushless ceiling fan that moves air at up to 10 feet per second on high. The light runs about 37 hours on its own, and the housing collapses when it is off, dropping into a duffel pocket.

Overhead Light And Airflow

The LED ring sits above the fan blades, so a single tent hook gives you light and moving air from the same point. The fan has high and low settings and the light works on its own, which means a cold night can be all glow and no draft.

Two D Cells

Roughly 37 hours of continuous light, or 20 hours of LED plus 15 hours of fan on low and 5 on high. Batteries are not included, which is worth knowing before the first night out - a spare pair takes up less room than a power bank of similar capacity and never needs an outlet.

Collapses For Storage

With the light off, the housing folds down and loses roughly half its height, which is what makes it easy to pack. Upright it stands on a table, hangs from a tent loop, or hooks over a branch, and the wide base keeps it steady on uneven ground.

Brushless And Quiet

A brushless motor is the reason this can run all night three feet above your face. There is no gearbox whine to sleep through, just airflow, and the maximum wind speed of 10 feet per second is enough to keep still tent air moving without flapping the walls.
